INTEGRATED SOCIAL STUDIES/LANGUAGE ARTS FOCUS - Studies include creative writing or essay projects, social studies (including history, geography, human relationships), vocabulary and more. Students do not need to be able to fluently read the books being studied as there will be read aloud time in the classes and other literature will be used for independent reading according to reading ability. Writing assignments and discussion will be centered around time periods being studied and/or the geography/setting of the book. Teaching independence, critical thinking skills, and character through reading, games, hands-on projects and activities is an integral part of this study. Focusing on each student's interest in the class will make learning fun!
SCIENCE FOCUS - This will be highly-engaging, hands-on science using Real Science 4 Kids curriculum and hands-on labs/activities. Using RS4K as a springboard, students will explore a variety of science topics including STEaM, astronomy, anatomy, biology, botany, chemistry, economics, electricity, meteorology, & physical science. Students will engage hands-on for individualized exploration of these class topics.
ART FOCUS - Art will include aspects from the books being studied including art history and hands-on art projects as well as many STEaM projects.
EMBLAZE Lunch & Learn on Thursday 12:00-1:30 includes social skills and executive function curriculum and time to eat together, talk, and play to gain a better understanding of building relationships and utilizing skills.
